Turkish Airlines has revealed its newly introduced business class seat, offering a glimpse at its latest design.
Turkish Airlines has announced its selection of the Aurora seat, manufactured by Stelia Aerospace, for its upcoming Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 aircraft. This choice is based on the new regional business class seat introduced by Singapore Airlines. The first delivery of Dreamliners is expected in mid-2019, with Turkish Airlines having ordered 25 Boeing 787-9 and 25 Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
Stelia is promoting its offering to Turkish Airlines as a combination of “full flat, full access, full privacy” – a trio of traveler-centric features presented in a contemporary 1-2-1 configuration. The seat provides a 44-inch pitch, an 18-inch high-definition video display, ample room in the spacious footwell compartment, and a privacy screen between the middle seats.
According to Stelia, the seats are furnished with luxurious Alcantara padding, a material commonly used in sports car interiors. Thierry Kanengieser, an executive at Stelia Aerospace, expressed that this customized business class seat was specifically developed for Turkish Airlines to provide the utmost comfort for long-haul journeys.
However, Turkish Airlines has clarified that the new seats will not be retrofitted onto its existing Airbus A330, A340, or Boeing 777 aircraft. Chief Marketing Officer Ahmet Olmuştur stated that they have separate retrofit projects for the current wide-body fleet, with no plans to implement this particular design. For more information on what passengers can expect, Singapore Airlines’ regional business class, which closely resembles Turkish Airlines’ new seats, provides further details.
The seating arrangement will feature an alternating layout, with certain window seats positioned adjacent to the window, offering passengers a seating configuration that provides additional privacy and separation from the aisle, as illustrated in the accompanying image.
Similarly, some window seats will be configured to have the passenger seated next to the aisle, while a shelf will be positioned between them and the window, providing a different seating arrangement.
Additionally, the paired middle seats will be arranged in two different configurations: positioned closely together or spaced further apart, which has been humorously referred to as a ‘honeymoon and divorce’ seating arrangement by industry observers.
In both scenarios, there is a screen located between the middle seats that can be raised to ensure privacy or lowered to encourage social interaction.
