British Airways will enhance its business class experience on the BA15/BA16 Kangaroo Route between London and Sydney by the end of the year. The Boeing 777 aircraft, which used to feature the Club World business class cabin, will be upgraded to the newer and more spacious Club Suites introduced in mid-2019. This upgrade will replace the previous forwards-backwards arrangement of Club World, providing passengers with a more comfortable and modern journey on the 22-hour flight.
In the event that you are not acquainted with British Airways’ Club Suite, the accompanying images provide substantial insight. The previous 2-4-2 dormitory-style arrangement, which resulted in limited personal space, has been replaced. Each passenger now enjoys a private and comfortable cocoon, featuring high walls, a sliding privacy door, and generous space to ensure a pleasant and spacious experience throughout the flight.
Additional modern conveniences encompass various storage compartments, including a stowage nook with a built-in mirror, catering to passengers’ practical needs. Notably, an expansive 18.5-inch HD video screen is provided for uninterrupted entertainment from the moment of boarding until arrival. Furthermore, thoughtful padding around the seat’s shell has been incorporated to minimize ambient cabin noise, prioritizing the comfort and tranquility of travelers.
The first-class section of the Boeing 777 will undergo a transformation, introducing refreshed suites inspired by the design of Boeing 787. These upgraded suites will include sliding privacy doors, providing passengers with an enhanced sense of exclusivity and comfort during their travel experience.
As part of the renovation process, the cabin of the Boeing 777 will undergo a significant reduction in seating capacity from 14 to eight in the first-class section. This modification will enable the installation of more Club Suites, bringing the total number of business class seats closer to the current eight-across Club World configuration.
Sajida Ismail, British Airways’ Head of Inflight Product, expressed the positive customer feedback received upon the launch of the Club Suite product. Customers highly valued the enhanced privacy offered by the new seats. The airline is dedicated to the progressive implementation of this product and other cabin enhancements, with a strong commitment to delivering the finest British quality, style, and comfort for its clientele.
As part of the upgrade, the Boeing 777’s self-serve Club Kitchen area will be modernized, incorporating chillers and built-in storage to accommodate an array of snacks, drinks, and refreshments for passengers’ convenience.
While British Airways continues to receive new Airbus A350 and Boeing 787-10 jets equipped with Club Suites directly from the factory, plans for upgrades to the Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 models are anticipated in 2023. However, no official announcement has been made regarding the refurbishment of the Airbus A380 superjumbos at this time.
