Eva Air Boeing 787-10 Business Class: The Basics
EVA Air’s Boeing 787-10s feature a unique layout in their Royal Laurel Class. The seating arrangement follows a staggered 1-2-1 pattern, which cleverly alternates the seats between closer to the aisle and further away.
The same principle applies in the center of the aircraft too, meaning there are no “honeymoon” seats where two seats are positioned closely together. The space between passengers remains consistent from one row to the next, with the only variation being the seat’s position.
Each row is equipped with overhead lockers that run along them. The center seats provide a slightly greater sense of roominess in terms of space as the lockers are positioned higher above the seats. However, it’s important to note that no storage is available above the first two rows in the center due to the crew rest area in the ceiling above.
EVA Air Boeing 787-10 business Class: Privacy
Similarly, passengers seated in the center are always separated from their seatmate by the shell of the seat, which wraps across in between them.
To enhance privacy further, passengers can pull out a divider after take-off.
If you want to sleep, choosing the odd-numbered seats by the windows is advisable. These seats provide a natural barrier by being positioned away from the aisle, helping to minimize disruptions and disturbances
To enhance the privacy even more, a separate privacy shield can be closed after take-off. This additional feature further assists in creating a secluded and uninterrupted space.
Even in the rows without these privacy shields, the design of the seat itself still provides a substantial level of privacy.
Eva Air Boeing 787-10 Business Class: Storage
The literature pocket in front of you can accommodate small, slim items like laptops and tablets. However, to utilize this space, you’ll need to remove all the pre-loaded magazines, except for the essential safety card, of course
You can store larger items in a nearby cupboard next to your seat, which can be conveniently closed during take-off and landing
Your headphones, a mirror, and storage space can be found by pressing to open.
Though not strictly a storage area, the seat’s tray is strong and adequately accommodates laptops and the like when working.
EVA Air Boeing 787-10 business class: sleep time
Expected amenities like AC and USB power outlets, headphone adapters, and the in-flight entertainment remote are next to your seat.
It also houses the seat controls, which include adjustment keys, a switch for the ambient lighting of the seat, a “do not disturb” option, pre-sets for the most often used settings, and a built-in massager.
If you’re standing up or have already reclined the seat, accessing some of these keys in a separate control panel is easier.
At the touch of a button, the seat can be converted into a totally flat bed when it’s time to sleep. A blanket and pillow are also included.
It is 76 inches (193 cm) long enough to fit most people, including those with huge feet. These size 11s were easily accommodated.
The side armrest can also be lowered for more comfort and room for arms, elbows, and shoulders simply twisting and pressing it downward.
On lengthy overnight flights, such those between Brisbane and Taipei, pyjamas are available; however, they are not provided on brief flights, like Taipei-Hong Kong, as passengers barely have time to put their seats in bed mode before it is time to prepare for landing.
EVA Air Boeing 787-10 business class: Entertainment
Each seat features an 18-inch entertainment screen that can be touched and operated with the remote control; it is more pleasant when the seat is flat and reclined.
Like other Dreamliners, EVA Air’s Boeing 787-10s have big windows for admiring the scenery; nevertheless, the seat’s design occasionally blocks that view without completely obstructing it.
